Humans are one of the tiny minority (3-5%) of mammal species that pair bond. This capacity to pair bond makes possible the synergistic practice we explore at this website. Human pair-bonding seems to have evolved because it serves our offspring. By improving the odds that two caregivers will become attached to any offspring, it increases their chances of survival.
